Job Summary

The Human Resources Business Partner plays a pivotal role in advancing EDA’s growth. This role will serve as a key business partner to the Vice Presidents of Operation and General Superintendents. The role will be responsible for providing comprehensive services across the company related to labor relations, collective bargaining, managing grievances and general education and communication with labor related business.

As both a critical strategic and operational role, this leader will be in a unique position to develop business strategies to continue to evolve the company’s strong position in the industry. The ideal candidate must be able to combine agile and strategic thinking with an ability to be hands-on.

Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with field management teams, extended HR partners, payroll, and labor relations to address contract-related issues and recommend solutions.
  • Serves as first point of contact and ensures compliance with collective bargaining agreement (CBA) requirements and regulations.
  • Maintain and update a comprehensive database of union records, including CBA renewals, pay rates, and adjustments, and other CBA requirements while also managing the CBA schedule, pay rate structure, and HR/pay rules grid.
  • Assist in establishing and communicating required practices per CBA (i.e. workers’ comp practices).
  • Audit current practices regarding CBA compliance and make recommendations for process improvement. May assist in CBA audits as needed.
  • Track employee hours for benefits qualification and service recognition.
  • Prepare and deliver educational training to field managers and supervisors on contract compliance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree (preference in HR, communications or related field experience required)
  • 5+ years of experience in human resources, labor relations, or a related field.
  • Prior experience working with unionized environments required.
  • Must have a strong understanding of union labor contracts, including but not limited to health and welfare benefits, and payroll requirements.
  • High level of discretion and professionalism.
  • Must be able to provide constructive and productive feedback.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems involving varying viewpoints and to develop viable solutions.
  • Strong project management skills, results-driven, adaptable with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Superior interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with all levels of the organization and adapt communication style accordingly.
  • Strong sense of integrity and ethics.
  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity that includes seeking new approaches and challenging the organization to new levels of success.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (primarily Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point.
  • The role involves occasional travel to different job sites, union meetings, and industry events. Travel may be necessary to conduct on-site investigations, attend negotiations, and participate in training sessions.
