Job Summary

We are seeking two motivated individuals looking to join an exciting and diverse team of estimators in the Roofing & Waterproofing Division. One will be located in our Bensalem, PA office and the other will be located in our Elizabeth, NJ office. This is a tremendous opportunity for an individual who wants to join a specialty contractor that performs work on many of the largest construction projects in the Northeast. The candidate must have experience in blueprint take-offs utilizing computer based estimating programs such as On Center Software or equal. Skill level can range from entry level to proficient. The candidate must be good with numbers and have excellent spatial reasoning abilities. Position also requires customer interaction at a very high level. Good customer service and customer support will be needed to be successful at this position.

Job Responsibilities

  • Read and understand Architectural, MEP and Structural Drawings.
  • Provide detailed take off for Quantities & scope of work as shown on construction drawings.
  • Prepare accurate estimates Using excel spreadsheets and the data collected from the takeoffs.
  • Prepare professional Bid proposals to Present to Customers.
  • Follow up with all the proposals to close the deal with the Clients and General Contractors.
  • Review the Final Contract Document once the job is awarded.
  • Conduct a startup meeting in presence of the Project Management team to Handoff the Estimate and Schedule of the awarded job for operations.
  • Interact with operations staff at all levels to get feedback on Projects.
  • Work with sales representatives and technical specialists to understand the costs and constructability of work.
  • Monitor Job Costs.
  • Be willing and able to work within a team concept structure of sharing and learning.
  • Develop and build professional relationships with client Construction Managers, Building Owners and Developers).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience range: 3 to 5 years in roofing installation and/or estimating.
  • Education: B.A. preferred.
  • Proficient with MS based office software applications
  • Proficient in Word
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Competent math skills
  • The Estimator must have the knowledge to read and understand Plans, Sections, and Elevations.
  • Computer software such as Onscreen and Bluebeam can provide detailed takeoff of the quantities and scope of work required by the GC.
  • The accurate Cost to submit a Bid is prepared by using the excel spreadsheet and formulas commonly used to give us the Labor and material Costs inclusive of taxes and transport charges.
  • Organizes quotes from vendors by designating materials; identifying qualified vendors and negotiating price.
  • Regular follow up is carried out through email and phone call to get feedback on the Proposal. An excel spreadsheet is maintained to enter the follow-up responses by the GC.
  • The Estimator must fill up a job start-up form and conduct a start-up meeting to explain the takeoff, scope of work, limitations on-site and Project details to the Operations team.
  • Regular visits on active sites will help the estimators to get feedback on the Projects.
  • By attending a team meeting discussing new products and technology used for operations will develop the Estimator qualities of working within a team concept structure of sharing and learning.
  • Regular contact with Clients will develop a professional relationship with clients.
