#Duckumentary - John Gibbons

Today we speak with John Gibbons, Mason!

What’s your favorite thing about working on your crew?

EDA has a good blend of younger and older guys. It’s good that different generations work together developing relations.

If you won the lottery what’s the first thing you would do with your winnings?

The first thing I would do is buy both of my adult children homes.

How do you stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies and safety protocols?

Mostly on job sites.

Outside of work, what are some of your hobbies or interest?

I love to travel, watch sports, hike and read.

What’s one thing you personally must have with you on a job site?

A tape measure.

Cat or dogs and why?

Dog - we got a dog when our children were young (8 and 5). We had him for 16 years; he was part of our family. My daughter called him my shadow. I honestly love all animals.

What the best piece of advice you’d give an apprentice or the best piece of advice you received as an apprentice?

Working safely doesn’t take away from production. Working smarter benefits the employer.

How do you manage stress and maintain a positive mindset in a high-pressure environment like construction?

The work is hard but the camaraderie among the men makes the days fly by. Practice safe work habits and everyone gets to go home.

Is there anything else about you, your family for your home life that you would like to share?

I have two children: Paige is 31, lives in Dubai UAE, with her husband Sami. She has a 1-year-old daughter Nora, my angel. My son Connor is 28, single living in Swarthmore with friends. I have been married to my wife, Debbie for 36 years.
