#Duckumentary - Jesse Oltmanns

Today we speak with Jesse Oltmanns, Carpenter!

What did you do before your time at EDA?

Before EDA I was involved with all types of construction projects. From site work all the way to laying shingles on roofs.

What brought you to the construction industry?

I never really had a chance at anything else, I come from a family with a lot of people in the construction industry. I was on jobs for my family at nine years old.

Can you briefly explain what you do at EDA?

At EDA, I do whatever is asked or needed. I am a part of the carpenter’s department, so I deal with a lot of the framing & installing panels.

What are some things that most people don't know about you?

A lot of people don’t know I am a nerd with video games & really enjoy playing them when I have the time.

If you weren’t in the construction industry, where would you be today?

I honestly don’t know. That’s a great question. The construction industry has played such a big part & major role in my life. There are a lot of things in life I enjoy so I would find something. I will always find a way!

If you could work in any other trade or department here at EDA, where would you be?

I wouldn’t want to be in any other trade. I enjoy going to work every day & dealing with new projects and being with the North Jersey crew.

What is the biggest challenge you've faced in work? How did you overcome it?

The biggest challenge is dealing with people in the workplace & industry. Not everyone likes doing things certain ways. Or in general some of the people you must deal with may be a lot different. I overcome that by understanding that & trying to work together. Be more of an all-around complete team.

What has been the best part about your experience working with EDA?

The best part of working for EDA is being around all types of people who can really elevate you. I also really enjoy watching the growth. The growth of everyone around me & the company. In my short time here, I can say my favorite thing about EDA is the attitude and the culture of “The EDA Way!”

What is your favorite EDA value, and why?

Strive to Improve is my favorite EDA value. All in all, everybody should use this core value to try to improve themself. Everyone in life should use this core value. Try to succeed even with your own expectations.
