Bregenzer Brothers Company Inc., an EDA company, specializes in historical restoration slate and copper roofing. They are a leader in installing environmentally sound roofs and are committed to sustainable, green practices that benefit both the environment and the community.
Environmentally Friendly Materials
Two of the most sustainable roofing materials available are copper and slate. These materials are not only durable and long-lasting but also chemical-free and environmentally friendly. BBCI prioritizes the use of these materials to ensure its projects meet the highest environmental standards.
Reducing Environmental Impact
BBCI is dedicated to sourcing nearly all its slate and copper from manufacturers within 500 miles of the project site. By doing so, they significantly reduce the environmental impact associated with transporting these heavy materials over long distances.
Recycling Slate and Copper
Recycling is a core part of BBCI’s sustainability efforts. When old slate is removed from a roof, it is carefully inspected and, if in good condition, reused in new projects. Any slate waste that cannot be reused is sent to a recycling center, where it is crushed and repurposed for landscape contractors. This practice significantly reduces waste.
Copper recycling is another critical component of BBCI’s green initiatives. The standard copper used in its projects comes from a supplier that certifies its product contains 90–95% recycled copper. Additionally, BBCI uses Freedom Gray copper, a tin/zinc-coated copper, that contains upwards of 84% recycled material. All old copper and job site scraps are collected and recycled, ensuring minimal waste.
Sustainability Beyond the Jobsite
BBCI’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond roofing installations. Its office, located in Ewing, NJ, incorporates functional pieces made from scraps and recycled materials. A newly installed ceiling was constructed entirely from recycled materials, further demonstrating the company’s dedication to reducing waste. The office also boasts a sliding door made out of recycled materials.
Commitment to a Greener Future
This Global Recycling Day, we celebrate BBCI for actively choosing recycled materials and implementing eco-friendly practices.
