What do you do here at EDA?
Simply put, I manage EDA’s social media channels. I am in charge in sourcing, creating, scheduling and posting content. From a larger scope, I help facilitate job site visits for our Field Friday Showcases, offer social media advice to EDA employees, and find new ways to grow EDA’s social/digital footprint through engaging content and stories.
What’s your favorite thing about working with your team/department?
The marketing team is full of conscientious and creative professionals. There is never an idea or thought that I can’t explore with the team, even being able to implement things I would’ve thought too out of the box at other companies. We all want to create the best possible work results, knowing we can trust and rely on one another to complete a given goal.
Outside of work, do you have any favorite activities or hobbies?
I am an avid Philadelphia Union fan, always in my seats in the supporter’s section with the Sons of Ben. I also love being able to cook for people. Whether it’s a family meal, game day snacks, or poker night with my friends, I think a great meal makes time spent together all the better.
What’s the best piece of advice you have been given relating to your job/career?Adversity is always going to exist, professionally or personally, for everyone. While that sentiment may be the same for everybody, how you respond to adversity is what makes you different. Facing adversity is hard, plain and simple, but overcoming it your way is more rewarding than anything else.
What’s one thing you never leave home without?
Water bottle. 99% of the time if you don’t feel good you probably should just drink some water. It’s also simply the best drink on Earth.
Cats or dogs? Why?
Both! In recent years, the South Philadelphia Cat Distribution System has graced me with two feline friends. My cocker spaniel, Blaze, needed to get used to sharing the space and love with two cats, but very quickly came to at least tolerate them. As long as there is peace in the house, I relish being able to have both my dog and cat friends.
What is your favorite part of your job?
The people and culture of EDA. I knew that this job was different when I first interviewed here. The extent of relationships here at EDA goes beyond just satisfying your job responsibilities. Yes, we may interact with each other in professional contexts but that doesn’t mean we are defined by it. Growing personally is just as important as growing professionally here at EDA, and that’s what makes them so special.
If you were planning your favorite meal, what’s on the menu?
I’ll go 3 courses for this one. We’ll start with a nice Caesar salad and fried calamari. For the main entre, an Argentine Churrasco skirt steak with chimichurri and plantains. And for dessert, a slice of key lime pie wraps it all up!
How do you stay updated on industry trends and advancements, and are there any recent developments that have caught your attention?
I try to subscribe to local and national newsletters and industry magazines. GBCA is a big asset to learn about recent developments in industry both nationally and locally. Google Alerts also allows you to set customized alert phrases or words to know if EDA is mentioned online or if there are recent trends to keep an eye on.
What's your proudest accomplishment, either in your professional or personal life?I graduated from Temple University in the Winter of 2020, so my senior capstone was during the pandemic. Working in sports media with no sports going on was a hit to my graduation track. Fortunately, a favorite professor of mine helped me satisfy my senior capstone project by designing a sports media course for incoming Juniors and Seniors in Klein College. Not only did my course remain at Klein but grew into a sport media certification now offered to undergraduates. I’ll never forget hearing the radio ad for the course broadcast on 94.1 WIP for something I helped create and establish at my alma mater.
