Nicholas' Construction Day

Policeman, astronaut, musician, doctor, teacher, firefighter - these are some of the most popular childhood dream jobs, and still, none of them capture the dream of Nicholas Esposito.

Diagnosed with neuroblastoma from a young age, Nicholas recently celebrated one year of being in remission with clear scans! Throughout his treatments at the Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania, Nicholas loved watching the construction of nearby buildings from the view of his room window. As long as she can remember, his mom Dana tells us that Nicholas has had a fascination with construction and playing with tools as he’s helped his dad, Louis, around the house with projects.

When Make-A-Wish (PHL) heard about Nicholas’ story and got involved, it was only natural that his wish was to be a construction worker for the day. For Make-A-Wish (PHL), President and CEO, Dennis Hopper, it was also only natural that EDA Contractors be the company to help make this wish come true. For many years, EDA has been delighted to partner with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, helping fulfill the wishes of children in the Philadelphia tri-state region battling terminal illnesses. On Friday, April 9th, 2021, EDA was honored to work with Make-A-Wish once again to host four year old Nicholas Esposito for his Wish Day.

Specifically requesting to work as a “digger” as Nicholas affectionately calls it, EDA was able to give Nicholas his day as our CEO - Chief Excavating Officer with the help of our partners. The generosity from our partners and donors helped EDA transform our very own backyard into a customized construction site and digging experience for Nicholas and his family. From masonry lessons and bricklaying to (lots of) excavation, the impact of being able to give the Esposito’s this day and associate a positive memory with Nicholas’ journey will stay with the EDA Family for years to come.

The EDA Family is honored anytime we can lend a hand to make a difference and share the positive impact of being successful together.
