What did you do before your time at EDA and BBCI?
Before my time with EDA and BBCI, I worked for an architectural sheet metal company for almost 18 years. Some of the work I did was like what EDA does, and some of it was a mixture of custom work, historical restoration, welding, and fabrication.

What brought you to the construction industry?
Both my grandfather and my dad were always handy; it was inspiring to be around them growing up and to learn from them. In the 1930’s, my grandfather bought a plot of land and constructed his own sawmill so that he could build a house on the property from the trees. What an amazing accomplishment… who wouldn’t aspire to do something that awesome?

What are some things that most people don't know about you?
I love visiting historical sites like forts, old homesteads, and castles. There’s an indescribable feeling you get knowing what took place so many years ago right where you are standing… thinking about the people back then and what their everyday lives must have been like.

If you weren’t in the construction industry, where would you be today?
I have a great passion for the outdoors and would love to do something revolving around that. Many years ago, I passed the civil service test and started college in pursuit of being a Conservation Officer.

If you could work in any other trade or department in EDA or BBCI, where would you be?
I made a move to a new position recently, which is something that I have been aspiring to do. If anything, I would probably continue to lean towards advancing my managerial role.

What is the biggest challenge you've faced in work? How did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge I have faced in work is letting go and putting my trust in others. People will be people, but you need to understand that there are more good people than ones with ill intent. This is still a work in progress for me, but with the advice of a lot of good people around me, I am improving.

What has been the best part about your experience working with EDA and BBCI?
The best part about working with EDA and BBCI is the people. There’s something you can learn from everyone, and there are a lot of good people here to learn from.

What is your favorite EDA value, and why?
My favorite value is Be Passionate. If you love what you do, the bad days are never really that bad. You can always find the good in them to help push you forward. It’s about caring, giving it everything you got, and being dedicated. It’s being proud of what you do, and for me it’s also the willingness to share your experiences and knowledge so that others around you can succeed.
