What did you do before your time at EDA?

Before EDA I worked as a foreman and machinist for a small metal shop fabricating submarine and aircraft parts for the military. I operated precision metal saws, bandsaws and did basic programming and operating a CNC Waterjet. I was able to work my way up foreman where I lead the shop, over saw our shipping department and trained our guys or any new hires what we do and did our best to hit all of our deadlines.

What brought you to the construction industry?

I felt like I outgrew where I was, and I needed a change and wanted to further develop my skill set.

Can you briefly explain what you do at EDA?

I work down at the sheet metal department fabricating materials for our awesome field crew with an amazing group of people who have taught me well, built my confidence up and helped me grow.

What are some things that most people don't know about you?

I’ve played guitar and bass for 20 years, and I used to train in jujitsu and kickboxing.

If you weren’t in the construction industry, where would you be today?

Probably a Park Ranger or running a sanctuary for unwanted senior pets.

If you could work in any other trade or department here at EDA, where would you be?

I honestly like where I’m at. If I had to pick though probably some with computer aided design or carpentry.

What is the biggest challenge you've faced in work? How did you overcome it?

Not being confident in myself or my work. I would beat myself up all the time over everything, I felt like I couldn’t learn things as fast as other people wanted me to or I’m not working fast enough. Once I felt my confidence start to go up, I would ride that wave and see that I can do the things I set out to do or that I’m overthinking certain jobs or situations.

What has been the best part about your experience working with EDA?

Everyone in the shop. There is a great sense of comradery out here. If life is going a little rough, someone out there will make it better or more bearable.

What is your favorite EDA value, and why?

Smile, Laugh, and Enjoy Life. Sometimes things can just be out of your hands, all you can do is laugh about it and figure out a way to overcome it.
