What do you do here at EDA?
As the executive assistant to the CEO, I’m the go-to person who helps keep everything running smoothly for him behind the scenes. I manage Ed’s calendar, coordinate meetings, handle communications, and make sure priorities are aligned so the leadership team can focus on driving the company forward.
Beyond the day-to-day logistics, I’m also a problem solver—anticipating needs, troubleshooting issues, and supporting various projects to keep the team on track. It’s a dynamic role that requires organization, flexibility, and sometimes a bit of creativity, and I love being part of the engine that keeps EDA moving.
What’s your favorite thing about working with your team/department?
My favorite thing about working with the team is the strong sense of trust and collaboration. In a fast-paced environment like construction, every day brings new challenges, and I really value how well we support one another—whether it’s problem-solving on the fly or making sure Ed’s day runs smoothly.
Everyone is committed to the same goals, and that shared sense of purpose makes even the busiest days feel rewarding.
What really stands out to me is the mutual respect and the genuine care we have for each other—not just as colleagues, but as people. We celebrate wins together, help each other through tough days, and always show up for one another. That sense of connection makes coming to work every day something I truly enjoy.
Outside of work, do you have any favorite activities or hobbies?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and being outdoors. Whether it’s a weekend hike or just relaxing on the deck, being in nature helps me recharge.
I also have a passion for creative projects like crafting and writing. DIY projects give me a fun outlet and keep my mind inspired.
Fitness is another important part of my routine—whether it’s a dance class, a Spartan run, a bike ride, or a strength workout, it helps me stay energized and clear-headed.
I also love organizing and planning—yes, even in my free time! I find a lot of joy in bringing order to chaos. It’s a nice balance to the fast-paced workday and keeps me grounded.
What’s the best piece of advice you have been given relating to your job or career?Focus your energy and know-how on being useful, not just impressive.
To me, that means prioritizing impact over image. It’s easy to chase titles and recognition, but real career growth often comes from consistently solving problems, helping others succeed, and doing meaningful work—even if it’s behind the scenes.
People remember the ones who make their work easier or better, not just the ones who talk the loudest. I think that advice grounds a person not just in their job or career but in their personal life as well.
What’s one thing you never leave home without?
My phone, because it’s my lifeline to my family. No matter how busy the day gets, just knowing I can check in with them or be reached if needed brings me peace of mind.
I also never leave home without my EpiPen. It’s something I always carry for safety, and it’s become second nature by now.
Lastly, I keep a small notebook with me for writing ideas or DIY project inspiration. Inspiration tends to strike at the most unexpected times, and having a place to jot things down helps me stay connected to my creative side—even on the busiest days.
Cats or dogs? Why?
Maine Coon cats and large-breed dogs, most definitely! Maine Coons are the dogs of the feline world—huge, beautiful, and very demure.
I grew up with dogs, so they’ll always have my heart. Large and extra-large breed pups are just the sweetest gentle giants.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of the job is helping people get clarity—whether that’s breaking down a complex idea, brainstorming a creative project, or guiding someone through a tough decision.
There’s something really satisfying about seeing that “aha” moment when a problem that felt stuck suddenly becomes manageable—or when someone walks away feeling more confident and informed than when they came in.
If you were planning your favorite meal, what’s on the menu?
Probably a seafood dish or my famous short ribs cooked in my special red wine sauce.
I’m a sucker for a good pasta dish, and I’ve also started experimenting with ramen recipes and making my own bread. That’s been fun.
How do you stay updated on industry trends and advancements, and are there any recent developments that have caught your attention?
I search online for the things I want to learn. I also find great articles in the magazines that come in, and I talk to people. Sometimes, that’s been the best way to stay updated.
We tend to forget how much we can learn from one another through simple conversation. I’ve gone down a lot of rabbit holes researching AI and other forms of technology lately.
What's your proudest accomplishment, either in your professional or personal life?
Graduating from grad school this past May takes the cake. I tackled a full program of seven-week classes in just nine months—which was basically a rollercoaster of caffeine, deadlines, sleepless nights, and panic attacks. It was fun. Lol!
When I finally submitted my capstone project, I texted Angela, Sarah D., and Rose H. with, “I survived, and it’s done!” It honestly felt like I’d just run a marathon… in heels.
Huge shoutout to my EDA peers who cheered me on the whole way. They kept me sane when I was wondering what on earth I was doing with my life.
Now, armed with my MBA in organizational management and project management, I can proudly say: I went in for the degree and came out with some serious determination (and a few gray hairs).
