We asked Dan about his journey to EDA, and what his thoughts are on EDA's culture.

What did you do before your time at EDA?

I owned and operated a general contracting/carpentry company for 10 years prior to coming to EDA.

What brought you to the construction industry?

Throughout my schooling, I always enjoyed and excelled in classes like Woodshop and Math. After high school, I worked for a general contractor. I experienced different projects and aspects of the trade, and knew it was for me.

What was your reaction to seeing EDA’s emphasis on culture?

My first EDA Town Hall event really opened my eyes to the emphasis on culture here. That really helped me appreciate the culture that EDA strives to achieve.

How is EDA's culture compared to that of your previous workplaces?

There is no comparison to EDA’s culture. While I’ve spent much of my career working for myself, I don’t know of any other construction companies that devote this level of time and/or resources to their general workforce.

What has been the best part about your experience working with EDA?

My best experience is that I’m given the room, faith, and encouragement to grow personally and professionally.

What is your favorite EDA value, and why?

Strive to Improve. I try to spend time training and improving the process and methods of my team members as often as possible. I like that I can help carpenters and roofers grow.
